Happy Friday, friends!

It’s an absolutely gorgeous day in San Diego – bright, warm sunshine mingled with an ever-so-slight crispness in the air that makes everything feel so fresh. It’s the kind of weather that makes me so happy.

The other reason I’m happy is that 2015 is shaping up to be one AWESOME year on the travel front: I’ve got a few trips planned so far (Iceland, Ireland, and London to name a few!), as well as exploring more of my own backyard. And on that note, I’m excited to announce that my next trip is a quintessential California road trip to Big Sur!

I’ve lived in San Diego my entire life, with the exception of stints in Los Angeles (college) and the Netherlands (with my then-boyfriend.) I’ve always loved, loved, loved road trips – I’ve taken a couple with the fam when I was younger (Sedona, Yosemite, Big Bear, etc.) but I’ve always wanted to throw up my hands, grab a bag, jump in the car, and just drive.

The boy and I were going to road trip to San Francisco for our anniversary back in December, but in the end we decided to scrap it in favor of saving money for Iceland/Ireland in April. This time, I decided to surprise him for Valentine’s Day with a road trip to Big Sur, camping along the way (and thus saving way more money.) Obviously, the surprise factor was ruined.

We’ll be taking advantage of the gorgeous forecast (70+ degrees) and stopping along some of the best coastal sights – San Luis Obispo, Solvang, Monterey, and then ending in Big Sur, where we’ll camp out with the help of Hip Camp (my fave camping bookers.)

Of course, stories will be shared here following the trip, but be sure to follow my Facebook page, Twitter, and Instagram for on-the-road pictures and stories!
