AUGUST
Pam Bates, Grape Stomp at Orfila Winery in San Diego
Kelsey Yergeau, Shooting Range in San Diego
Before this experience I had never even held a gun, so to say finally getting out and crossing this off my bucket list was intimidating is an understatement. My boyfriend and I chose to go to Iron Sights in Oceanside for our shooting adventure. The staff at Iron Sights was amazing, going over proper form and safety in detail for a first timer like myself. We chose to shoot an AR-15 as well as a hand gun each. The AR-15 is extremely loud in an indoor range which made me a little nervous when it was my turn to shoot, but I was definitely surprised how little recoil the gun had. It was almost easier to shoot than the 9mm I shot afterward. After getting over the initial jitters of actually shooting it was a fun experience. If it was slightly less pricey I could definitely see visiting a lot more often!
Melissa Mahan, Ziplining at Skull Canyon, Corona
I have wanted to go ziplining for several years now. The closest I ever got was the possibility during a trip to Idaho. However, the place was closed the day we had time. So, this month, I finally did it! And it was a BLAST! My small entourage of four drove up to Corona, Ca to Skull Canyon. Our guides, Mike and Howie were great. Very funny, knowledgable and professional. We were the only ones on our tour, and my birthday had been the day before, so everyone “made” me go first! Exhilirating! By the last of the six courses, I clambered to be first again! I can’t wait until next time!
